Travel with purpose

Did you know? The animal with the longest migration pattern is the Sterna paradisaea bird (also known as the Arctic tern) – which is where we get our name from.

The travel industry is growing rapidly, which is great from an economic perspective, but it also poses some challenges. From the impact on the climate to culture clashes, it’s becoming increasingly important to travel consciously.

STERNA was born from a passion of learning about different cultures, traditions and histories from around the world.

We aim to inspire, inform and connect people with destinations in a more meaningful way, bringing together professional insight with consumer passion. Fuelling a new generation of conscious travel.

About the founder

Emily D’Silva has lived and worked in four international cities: London, Berlin, Lisbon, and Dubai.

She has travelled to 40+ countries and 5 continents so far – always with the aim of learning about different cultures and regions. Everywhere she goes, she collects stories worth sharing.

Her experience includes:

  • Assistant Content Manager at Deloitte (London), writing positive social and environmental impact client stories for the Annual Review.
  • Content Editor for IDG, writing about business development for a knowledge base microsite with Microsoft and Adobe.
  • Production Assistant for the Walt Disney Company, translating hope, magic and storytelling through commercials.
  • Editor of Vattenfall’s (Swedish energy provider) international B2B publication.
  • Most recently Editor of Hotelier Middle East, the largest B2B hospitality publication in the GCC.

Wanting to help people travel with more purpose, she launched STERNA.
